I went into the OMV Express location off Siegen. The fee for my vehicle registration renewal was $48 on the mailed document. But, I was surprised the process and convenience fees together was $21. The grand total came out to $69 for a sedan. I paid it regardless, but I felt the convenience fee was a little excessive and was undisclosed. Like to see if anyone else recently encounter the same fee surprise by the OMV in Baton Rouge.

Why didn't you renew online?

Yea I paid something similar. I was in and out in 20 minutes so I didn't care much.

$12 to go to the front of the line. Pay up or wait with the peasants. $77 for a drivers license is worth every penny if I don't have to sit and wait.

I misplaced my renewal document. I found it recently and noticed expiration date was cutting it too close. I would have found it earlier if I look at my office desk.

Isn't the Siegen Lane Express OMV one of the privately run OMVs, licensed by the state to issue DLs, etc? That's probably why there's an extra fee, for the convenience of not having to go to the actual DMV office on Independence Blvd.

ETA: Here's an old article about this. LINK. I think this started like a year or so ago.
