Anyone else had that "pulp machine" that you put the styrofoam trays on when you were done? Ever saw the finished product in the back? We were always scared that'd be reprocessed into new "meat" patties.

Summer Grove Elementary - Shreveport 1970's.
Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and the best damn yeast rolls on earth.
Chicken fried steak with green beans and new potatoes and chocolate pudding for dessert.
Lasagna - yummy.

Oh, the rolls. When they'd cut them open and add some cheese to melt in there.

Lee High had rolls that would melt in your mouth. Put some Mac & Cheese in it....Yum!

Pizza was pretty good too.

What about the fried baloney with the mashed potatoes in the middle that had melted cheese on top.

Not saying it was good... but it was memorable.

We had that too. VP and CFS were the same meat, but for CFS the cutlets were breaded, on VP, they weren't.

In the 70s in Ascension Parish....we had great red beans & rice, jambalaya, some sort of sauce picante.....and, man, those freshly baked rolls were awesome....the cinnamon rolls were the best I have ever had.....

And to think, all we did was bitch about the food then...It really was good.....
