I own a 2015 Suburban. Called to check the price of an oil change today. Dude quotes me $120 . This was for synthetic oil. And no this isn't my first oil change ever but first on this one as we just purchased it a few months ago. Is this normal or getting taken to the wood shed ?

How many qts of oil?
Sounds maybe 10-15 high for full synthetic oil change.

Go to one of those 5 minute oil changes. About half the price

synthetic plus extra quart of oil is gonna be pretty pricey, but that seems like a bit much. I would check a few other places to see what they quote. also, check non-synthetic price, in case you decide to go that route.

That's definitely high. Did you go to a dealership?

What dude did you call?
Just go to express oil change. In and out in 10 minutes, sit in your car the whole time. Probably half the price.

You ever thought about doing it yourself? It's super easy if you just have the 20 mins to do it, a bucket, and a ratchet with sockets. I started doing my own a few years ago and will never pay that much to have someone else do it again, regardless if I have the extra money. I usually do a full synthetic and new filters for about $35 at the most, but then again my filters are easy to get to and I have the tools

I just went to Goodyear. Regular oil (5 quarts) and tire rotation...$26.51 final cost.

I hate the disposal aspect of changing my own oil.

Poor the old oil in the same 5 quart container you just emptied. When it's time to change your oil again, bring said container filled with old oil to auto parts store and dispose of while buying new oil and filter. Continue for life of vehicle.

I found i never really saved all that much doing it myself, plus having to haul around used oil sucks

same here...I only found myself saving $10 or so...not nearly worth the trouble.

I need 6qts. So I have two containers and the oil filter to sit around my shop for months at a time.

They try to push synthetic on you for $20 or more +.
Supposedly "the govt" recommends synthetic if your car reaches a certain age.
Just give me my damn regular oil w/out gauging me

I agree sounds $10-15 high normally in BR market a mobil1 OC with filter will run 90-$105 of you need an extra quart or 2. Most places charge an additional 8.95-10.95 per quart. If in the BR area I recommend Rapid lube on Essen they are the best. Benny's is solid as well.

I used to have to pay for 8.5qts of synthetic. And a oil filter that had to be disassembled to be changed.
Still was cheaper than me trying to do it.
