This was a sad case. But it's insane how she didn't think to look back even once.

Knowing she could have been saved is all the more disturbing

NYPD Sued for Allegedly Standing Idle While Woman Was Stabbed to Death?
Christina Yuna Lee, 35, screamed for her life, but cops refused to burst through a locked door for over an hour, a lawsuit alleges.

The family of Christina Yuna Lee, the 35-year-old woman cops say was stabbed more than 40 times by a homeless man and left for dead in her Manhattan apartment in 2022, has sued the New York Police Department for their response to the grisly murder.

The lawsuit, filed Friday, accuses two NYPD officers of standing idle outside Lee’s apartment while she screamed and was repeatedly stabbed behind a locked door—an inaction they allege is why Lee ultimately lost her life.

“Despite having reason to believe Ms. Lee’s life was in imminent danger,” the lawsuit says, “(the officers) failed to gain entry to Ms. Lee’s apartment or otherwise provide her with any potentially life-saving police or medical assistance.”

The suit alleges the inaction was particularly egregious because of officers’ proximity to Lee’s apartment, situated in a Chinatown neighborhood adjacent to Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

The NYPD’s 5th precinct is just blocks from there, yet the suit says it took police an hour and 20 minutes to force entry into Lee’s apartment—where her mangled body was recovered in a bathtub, and her accused killer, Assamad Nash, was found hiding under a bed.

She could have been saved

They will lose. This argument has been tried for Parkland and they lost too.

The police have no duty to protect you and yours, and we as a society either need to understand that or change the rules.

I wish every one of these headlines was required to say “tax payers sued because of government employee incompetence”

Imagine her attacker was on the subway with her and someone did intervene. They'd all be arrested anyway.

Right. Cops write reports after the fact.

NYC and NY state have some of the stricter gun laws on the books.

If NYPD has no duty to protect, those laws need to go away so people don’t need to call them.

Established case law, the police have ZERO responsibility to protect you.

The state is corrupt with the politicians, AG's, DA's, judges and jury selection favoring the outcomes they desire. The cops could have prevented easily this tragedy.

Cops have no duty to protect.

Also, self defense is illegal in NYC

After Eric Garner, George Floyd, Jordan Neely, et al, no cop is going to risk his pension and prison. This is to be expected. Policies have consequences. This is one of them.

I hope to goodness I never have to get physical to protect my family, but there's also a reason I moved to a place that's more aligned with my values.

You may know the general rule from a google search but how about the exceptions? Have you read the cases or did you even know there are exceptions?

Then why do they have…

“To protect and serve” written on the cars we pay for?

I would never expect a cop to save me from a “situation”, but they
do get a lot of praise for being the “protectors” of society.
Maybe they need a facelift.
