Probably not the time that it's daylight 24 hours a day, if Fairbanks has that.

I thought you had to go further north than Fairbanks to see them. Roger should be here shortly

I could see it happening to someone.

Thought the rocky mountains would be a little more rockier. Ya know?

Fairbanks is in the aurora oval, but it's still somewhat unpredictable. I've seen them, but it was just green. Not rainbow colors like you see in google. Still pretty cool though.

Nah, I lived in Fairbanks for three years and saw the Northern Lights plenty of times.

I lived there for 6 years, I don't know that there's certain months, but cold clear nights and early mornings were the best. Not sure if that was just a coincidence, I really didnt care, they were just cool as hell to see.

You could probably find a Yurt for cheap on Airbnb haha.

If you're going to Fairbanks I've included two links both from UAF Geophysical Institute one is just a basic aurora forcaster for the area and another is a link to their camera at the poker flats research facility that is a live feed of the sky and catches a lot of cool stuff. My uncle works for the GI and has given me other sites/tools that help you pinpoint when the auroras should happen to a 30min window if I can remember that stuff I will post.

If you do go to Fairbanks a decent place to watch near town is Gold Stream Valley at the bottom of the hill on Ballaine Road there's a pull off for your car and minimal light pollution.

I saw them from the window of a plane over Anchorage. You have to get away from the light clutter.

Chena Hot Springs is a popular place to go see the northern lights. Away from the lights of Fairbanks and the hot springs are a nice place to watch them from.

Go to Chena Hot Springs in the dead of winter. You'll be sure to see them.
