Non Tech Board Tech Board Post: How do you use Amazon Prime?

(Admins: Please note that while this is a Tech Board-related subject, there are MANY people here on the OT who use Amazon for non-tech-related things, and that's the point of my thread. Please don't move it)
So I took the Amazon Prime plunge recently when they announced the $67 one day deal for new memberships. I actually had a purchase on the way already but since then I haven't ordered a thing. Took a spin through Amazon Prime Video and once we're through with Sons of Anarchy on Netflix we'll dig in there.
But for those of you who are dedicated Amazon/Amazon Prime Fans, what do you find are the best deals on Amazon? What do you find more convenient to purchase on Amazon versus department stores or grocery stores? I'm quite comfortable with them-we've bought generators, dish satellite hookups, etc there-but I'd like some unique perspectives to help me think of new ways to get the most out of my membership.
So belly up to the bar and let's hear. What do you buy on Amazon? What do you like? What do you not like?
Thanks in advance.

I use it for the free two day shipping and streaming.

video, random shopping, but the most important way we use it is for Subscribe and Save. We get all out bulk items (toothpaste, TP, Paper towels, laundry detergent, etc.) delivered to us monthly at 15% cheaper than big stores.

Rather than going to the store, I get it on Amazon prime.
Not really that difficult.
Everything but fresh groceries.

I pass two walmarts twice each day. If I can stand waiting two days rather than going in and by undershirts, underpants, ink pens, tray tables, etc, I just order them from Amazon and have them shipped to the house.
Sometimes you'll pay a little more for primes "free" shipping, but it's worth it to me.
I buy whatever I can there, and always check their prices vs other websites.

I love Prime.
2 day shipping, Prime TV + movies, music streaming.
Well worth the cost IMO.

I guess I need to research this more. But since I'm lazy, is there an additional cost for this program and does it actually save you that much money?

Random shite that would require me going to some special store. I recently set my fish tank back up and Amazon has made that 100% easier, since pet store notoriously mark things up. I get any little thing that would require me making a special trip and risk the store not carrying what I want, and I always know I'm getting the best price. Weedeater string that I know will fit and 5 bucks cheaper than Lowes with no traffic fought is probably the best recent example.

The only things that I don't first check for pricing on Amazon Prime are perishables.
I stream music and movies, buy clothes, tools, non-perishable groceries, gifts, mower and outboard parts, shoes, gardening supplies, electronics, luggage, non-perishable food items, etc.
I would suggest that before you buy anything, anywhere else, you first check the pricing on Amazon. I live 15 miles outside of the nearest town so if I plan ahead, or absent that, if I can wait a couple of days, I save gas money even paying slightly more for something to be delivered than I would by traveling to purchase it.

My BIL even has the buttons for things like paper towels, TP, ziplock bags, when you need more, you press the button you mounted in the pantry (or wherever) and all you have to do is confirm the new order on your phone. In two days you'll have whatever it is you ordered.
ETA:
It's called the Amazon Dash Button.

Pretty much everything but groceries. I love the convenience of having anything I want show up at my door two days later, so I can avoid the hassle of Walmart.
I don't really use it for movies/shows.
ETA: The free two day shipping is so awesome for Christmas shopping, I didn't even go to one store last Christmas.

there is no additional cost for the subscribe andsave program, but i think you have to have a minimum of 5 items each month to receivethe 15% off.
im not sure exactly how much we save as my wife is the one who handles this, but i know it is cheaper and there certainly is the convenience factor of having all this stuff show up at your door. and shipping is free.

Subscribe and Save is a good deal for things that you consume regularly. Bundle five items together and get the 15% discount. Subscribe and Save doesn't apply to all merchandise. It's primarily household, food and personal care items.

Check out their pantry box service and their monthly subscription services. The majority of my purchases come from those two services.

If you live in a big city, you can use Prime Now. I've probably bought 5-10 things (a computer monitor when working on a big project, giant bags of dog food when we ran out unexpectedly, etc) and you can get it same day, often within a couple hours.
I tip the delivery guy 5 bucks, but other than that the pricing is the same.

I live in Walker. Unfortunately they won't offer it to us until about a day after the Rapture.

I look at the deals of the day every day and a lot of times I've found great things that I have wanted or needed for a while at great prices.
In any 6 month stint I purchase about 60-70 things. Could be anything from toilet paper, paper towels, etc to pots/pans, glassware, blurays, sports equipment, tailgate equipment, etc.
I also use the video service for some shows or movies that Netflix doesn't have.
If you read, you can get good books on your kindle or phone for free I believe also.
