Meh that's not really my style. I don't think I will ever wear out my AE cap toes.

Loafers are a whole other story though

And AE took away the sole I got on all my shoes

I have had a pair of J&M higher end shoes, but I bought them too small because they were on sale and they didn't have my size. Thought they would stretch out eventually, never did, so I got rid of them. Can't speak to their durability.

The J&M I have had with rubber soles have been terrible. Stitching busting and soles coming apart. I'll never buy another pair. And I'm happy enough with AE and Alden to stick with them.

OT baller... Someone else was suggesting something more $$$ than AE or Alden

In 2013 AE was purchased by another company. I can't recall the name, but they've made big changes to the website and the business model. They now sell clothes and other mens accessories. I'm not a fan, but they still make a lot of shoes in the US.

I've had about 10 pairs of J&Ms through the years. I wear the casual loafers out, and the few pairs that are nicer that I wear less frequently will last forever. Solid shoes.

A pair of horsebits is classic. Nothing wrong with Gucci shoes.

Buy J&M if you want a shoe that will look nice for a second. They don't hold up.

I have a pair of woven loafers that I got in 03 and still look/fit great.

My dad has 3 pairs that hes had since the early 70's.

So you're saying that nothing could have changed with respect to their manufacturing processes since the 70s, or even 03? Interesting.

That's not at all what I said.

Guy said the shoes weren't durable.

I gave multiple personal accounts of their durability over a 40+ year period.

I mentioned nothing about manufacturing process...

Do you make a habit of putting words in people's mouths?

And im sure the vast advancements in technology over the last 40 years has contributed greatly to the regression of shoemaking practices...

Perhaps they're not currently as durable as the examples you've given because they now use cheaper manufacturing processes, which result in a lower quality shoe?

Sorry you're so sensitive about J&M shoes.
