News reporters: How long does an "active shooter" remain an active shooter?

Once the perp is captured is he no longer an "active shooter?" He is in custody and no longer "shooting" but why is he still called an active shooter? I'm talking to you Lafayette news media.

until they can confirm 1) they have the correct person in custody and 2) there isn't the possibility of multiple suspects in play
