New Orleans S&WB member resigns, says mayor using employees as scapegoats

The president pro-tem of the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board announced his resignation Thursday (Aug. 10), accusing Mayor Mitch Landrieu of forcing employees to unfairly take the blame in the wake of Saturday's massive flooding.
quote:
Update: Landrieu issued this statement after the story was published: "I'm surprised by Scott's comments. There's obviously a lot of passion, anger, and frustration stemming from these events. My commitment to reforming SWB has been unwavering, and I stand by that record working with the board. No one can say with a straight face that we have not worked hard and successfully secured record amounts for infrastructure and spoken almost weekly about the need for more, often specifically for drainage. We also have worked since day one to rebuild the power plant. I have great respect for the volunteers that serve on these boards and will continue to work with the Board and this community to restore trust and credibility.

Yeah just read that on NOLA. The hammer needs to come down on Mitch.

At what point can citizens and insurance companies claim gross negligence on City Hall?

I've come to dislike Mitch very much.

It's well, good and cutesy for Mitch to say they live in a bowl.
It's really a catch basin with pumps that don't work.
Residents and business owners have to realize that pump failures are not a way of life as Landrieu wants them to believe.

Money talks, bullshite walks. All the meetings in the world, without following up with action, are just reasons to go have a free lunch.

You can claim it now. But legally it will have no impact, at least not that I can think of at 5:19 am.

And its pointless since the city has no money and like 80 million in pending suits

Have there been any petitions or attempts at a recall for Mitch Landrieu yet? This is a person that is proving to be largely incompetent. Is the city going to just bite its tongue and wait for him to leave in the spring?

I was personally in meetings where the mayor, council members, SWBNO, DPW, and ACOE were told the problems and told the solutions. Everyone knows about the problems, they just don't give a shite, private citizens included.
Edit: For the record, these were not closed door meetings. They were public.

Unfortunately, this is probably the wisest course of action.

So he admits he knew all those pumps were down?

Funding that two separate people from the SWB and one from the DPW says the city refuses to release to them to use for projects.
quote:
spoken almost weekly about the need for more,
Well by all means Mitch keep talking about it. That'll help. Let me go tell me neighbor that threw half his furniture away and had his car totaled that Mitch has been talking about it and will keep talking about it.
None of the political word vomit he's spewing explains why we've had turbines broken for years, Lakeview's pump station was operating at 50% capacity, the DPW has been stalled trying to clean the drainage due to a failure to release funds by the city, and the wiring that Mitch pledged to fix was never fixed.
Mitch is trying his hardest to spin all this away from the actual issues. But frick him.
In less than a couple of months the man was almost completely by himself able to amass 2 million dollars of both public and private funds and coordinate both the police department and the fire department, and private contractors in one night to tear down the statues, but he couldn't figure out how to fix some broken pumps and wiring issues in 7 years?
Which is it Mitch? You're absolutely and completely incompetent or you're knowingly and willingly fricking the city for your own personal gain? It can't be anything else.

Yeah I bet you are you piece of subhuman shite.
I bet his mind is twisting like a pretzel at the thought of all of his incompetence and empty promises being aired out in full display for everyone to see.
