"We have seen some fentanyl being made as though it was candy. We want to be very mindful; we want our parents and the kids to be very mindful in inspecting these candies very carefully before digesting them," said Superintendent Shaun Ferguson.

Police Chief Shaun Ferguson also said kids should never go inside a stranger's house or accept a ride from a stranger. They should also walk on sidewalks and only trick-or-treat in well-lit areas where others also are.

Not surprised, but honestly really sad that we've come to this. I remember eating Halloween candy like it was nothing. Now we have to make sure its not laced with fentanyl.

Anyways, what's the O/U for halloween homocides in the Big Easy tonight?

I don't understand the fear mongering.

They are using candy wrappers to try to smuggle the drugs into the country.

What drug dealer wants to hand out their product for free?

I would burn the city down to the ground if someone slipped fentanyl to my kid during trick or treating.

Check your kids' candy everyone

Last year my kids went trick-or-treating in New Orleans and someone had put the country's highest murder rate per capita in one of the candy bars.

The amount of semi-intelligent people I know that are buying into this BS is astounding.

Why would dealers give away drugs for free?

Why would you try to get kids hooked, a demographic who has zero money?

Are they lacing the candy with children sized doses of fentanyl or adult sized? Which leads to the follow up, why would drug dealers want the attention of the cops after they murder a neighborhood full of kids?

People are giving away drugs for free now??

This is fricking retarded. If it doesn't look like a known brand.... throw it away. I don't know why so many people are saying there will be fentanyl in candy.

the fear porn over this is insane.

what drug dealer would give away their drugs to kids for free? it’s nonsense

they make drugs look like candy to help smuggle them/keep them in their house/apartment and not draw attention.

the only way this story makes any sense is if you have teenagers and you find some “candy” hidden in a drawer or under their mattress then you might have a problem

When I grew up it was razor blades in candy and fruit we were told to watch for. This is a ploy by parents to go through their kids candy and take the good stuff for themselves.

It's like free samples to expand their customer base. Get the kiddies hooked.
