I'm not sure how relevant this is. The President has access to a lot more information than the Governor of New Mexico.

this question extends beyond our borders

and, the entire world was getting bad data from the WHO well into February

do you remember when the WHO declared a worldwide pandemic? hint: it wasn't in February

Thankfully the curve does appear to be flattening,

naw. it hasn't really even done this based on the new models, nationally (places like NYC and Nola will need to flatten their curves)

the new models show this was never as big of a threat here as it was forecast, especially on a national level

Maybe if he’d skipped those outings no one would have died?

The Louisiana numbers have been a lot better this week & is ahead about 8 to 10 days of the rest of the country which is why I say that

even in LA, it's clear that a statewide shut down was not needed (to get back to the federal response)

Nola/JP needed to be flexed on. the rest of the state didn't need that level of disruption

the argument gets exponentially (literally) harder when you go from state to national

I think the idea was that the spread couldn’t realistically be contained via a regional quarantine bc unlike China were not going to dig up I-10 and Airline.

it was more political than that

just like why they waited a week (maybe more) to enact real social distancing and withheld the information they knew about Orleans/JP

at least on a public level. it seems possible Gordan McKernan was given some inside information

Even so, I think it’s true a regional quarantine of just NO and JP is a flawed idea because a true quarantine can’t be accomplished.

it would have been better and more forceful than what we did

but it wouldn't be fair

i'm curious how the LASC handles this b/d Orleans/JP are going to be dealing with this possible into June and the rest of the state will be ready to open up for business. i'm sure other state agencies have the same issues

So what? He took serious action long before any Democrat would have when he shut down travel with China. That, saved lives. Your side including Pelosi were encouraging gatherings late into February. Fauci and the WHO and CDC were not very accurate early either. Hell, the WHO claimed they were uncertain of human transmission in mid to late January.
