Just got a new whirlpool washer and dryer set. I didn’t realize the washer is a high efficiency washer and it doesn’t seem like it adds enough water. Not sure if this thing is worth a shite and trying to decide on keeping it or not. Y’all have any experience with these new HE washers?

So you didn’t review the new appliances you purchased beforehand?

They don't use much water. If your clothes are really dirty, I suggest adding an oxi clean cycle and maybe even an extra rinse.

I have had one for years now and so far no problems. Be careful not to overload it

I had a whirlpool HE and hated it. No agitator and left soap all over the clothes. Would twist them
Into the tightest knots you’ve ever seen. Return it and buy something else.

Bad ones. I dumped mine on the road for old school top loaders. Bonus if you can find like a 1998 model in the classifieds and you can work on it yourself.

You should have checked with him first, he’s always been very free with his experience and advice here.

Complete crap.
Bought a basic Speed Queen; all stainless, no plastic parts or BS "Intelligence"...

Keep mine on ”Bulky Items/Sheets” and it puts a bit more water.

1) are you using a compatible detergent

2) you are probably putti by in way too much detergent. Most people overdo it with their detergent.

Just be sure to fer one with the HE label and add only what is needed.

We recently sold my grandparents home and pretty much all of their appliances are the only ones that I can remember. Good luck getting 8 years out of most of them now.

I’ve had an HE top loader for years and it has been fine. The only issue I have is when I wash something bulky like a blanket or multiple bath towels. They seem to occasionally settle on one side of the tub and it rattles/shakes like it’s going to explode. You have to pause the load and rearrange the wet items to the center and then it works fine. Even off-center it will finish the load but it’s loud as hell.

Had to replace a 4.5 year old Maytag. Would have had to replace the transmission. I thought about it, and promptly threw it out.

The parts were all made out of flimsy plastic.

Word of advice. If you happen to have one of these high efficiency machines: don't put in too much detergent and don't load the machine to the max. These machines aren't made to take it.

I’m not sure if it’s the washer or what but our clothes smell fine after washed and dried but the minute you sweet they stink to high hell.
