I've heard this theory for years.

But the version I heard was that they were shot as spies on Howland Island.

Did they use the FaceBack app that was used in "The Other Guys"? If not, maybe they should try it

That's either Amelia Earhart or Prince Valiant. It's hard to tell from behind.

The japs killed her and buried here in the bottom of the hole at Oak Island and they will find some evidence of it next season on the Curse of Oak Island. Damn History channel is just setting themselves up for sweeps week.

They found this at the Tokyo Airport to corroborate the story-

This photograph is 100% legit. I mean, they even have them circled with their names on it. No doubt about it.

Seriously, though, what would have been the point of the Japs keeping her prisoner? She vanished in 1937. The Japs had only just started to get really, really nasty in Manchuria that year, and the United States had not started to put the economic screws to them yet. We certainly were not at war.

I think Amy Adams made a much better Amelia Earhart...

The photo, found in a long-forgotten file in the National Archives, shows a woman who resembles Earhart and a man who appears to be her navigator, Fred Noonan, on a dock. The discovery is featured in a new History channel special, "Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence," that airs Sunday.

I'm sure this guy will explain it all.

Could have picked a picture that showed off her arse-ets, but yeah, she was pretty fine as AE.

interesting podcast on Astonishing Legends all about Earhart and connections to the war, spying, possible discovery of her plane, and capture by the Japanese

That was a good episode. There's the theory that the US sent her in that direction with the intention of sending a search party that would actually be scouting the area for the inevitable WW2

I like the one where they had uncovered evidence that Abe Lincoln was not shot over political differences, but that he and Booth were playing poker because the play was so boring, and that old "honest" Abe actually cheated JWB
