Apparently you can’t have any disposable containers (can or glass bottle) while you float. What are my options on how to drink beer and keep it cold while we float? I assume some of you have ran into this issue.

Thanks!

Go to San Marcos instead.

Is this a recent law?

If not, we floated last year with an ice chest (campground we stayed at even provided the ice chest float) full of cans of beer. We truly didn’t know and no one told us a thing. I don’t think we saw anyone out there without cans honestly.

Just take a fricking keg out there. Or better yet just take some weed and just smoke some joints/blunts as you keep on floating. Alcohol is just trashy really.

Floated earlier this year with a cooler and 12 pack. Don’t ask if you don’t know the answer.

I think the deal is you have to have cans and not bottles.

The Guadalupe isn’t apart of the “no can” law, just the Comal River is. Because the Comal goes thru New Braunfuls city limits. Only a small section of the Guadalupe does.

Cans are fine on the Guadalupe. If it’s the Comal you are floating, come back, I’ll teach you grasshopper

The laws are different on the Guadalupe below Gruene since you’re entering New Braunsfels city limits. If you go upstream from there you’ll be good. We always got to tube rental place down the hill from Gruene and went upstream and did a “full day” float. We used Rockin R rentals and they have a lot of information on rules/laws/ etc on their website

Uncle Stu will be here eventually to drop some knowledge. He holds the (unverified) record of floats in one summer.

We used to float kegs down the salt river in AZ. Get one of those inflatable rafts fill it with ice and wrap the keg with something that will help keep it cool. We put those frozen ice blocks in between the keg and what we wrapped it with.

we're doing the Comal this weekend, which has the same can ban. We're bringing a keg and yeti mugs to skirt the can and solo cup ban.

There’s no can ban on the guad. Just the comal.

It’s in Texas so everybody just throws their empty cans in the river
