Need a ruling...bringing my own supplies to oil change place

I just want to go and buy my own synthetic oil and filter and pay them to drain, install and dispose of old oil. I can understand the argument that they upcharge supplies to keep labor down, but I'd be hard pressed to follow that line of thinking.

What are you trying to ask? I don't see why they won't charge you $30 or whatever the normal rate is if you supply your own stuff. I wouldn't expect a cheap deal though.
But yeah for a whopping $30, they probably don't want people to supply their own supplies for liability and quality control reasons.

Are you doing this because you're too cheap to pay for it there?

Fyi, I did all this shite last week

I used to (many years ago) bring my own OEM oil filter to a quickie oil change place. I paid about $6 for the filter, but the quickie joint only knocked off $1 because that's all they saved by not using their cheap generic filter.
So, they'll probably do it, but don't expect them to give you much if any break on price. The bulk oil and generic filters they provide don't cost them much.

So you buy your own oil and filter and then ask a business change the oil with the supplies you bought? Quit being a bitch arse bitch and change your oil if you are going to buy all of your own stuff.

I can provide supplies. I just need labor

I imagine most places will do what you ask but expect the discount off the regular price to be minimal.
As previously stated they buy filters and bulk oil very cheap and they aren't going to give up the fee that they make on those materials.

I would say no biggie if it was for a product they didn't offer but I would tell you to kick rocks if it was to bypass buying what keeps my doors open.
Do you take your own hamburger meat to McDonalds?

If you are relying on upcharging supplies to keep doors open, you should consider some alterations to business model. Your value is in labor and equipment eta and location

This is fricking retarded. Do it yourself or let them do it.

I am letting them do it, and I am happy to pay their bullshite $25 labor rate for less than 15 min of work

So yea, change it yourself. It takes all if 20 minutes.

How much money do you expect to save?
I don't understand how people don't understand businesses have overhead. Just because you think they should only profit from the labor doesn't negate the fact that they've invested in equipment, buildings, insurance, etc. Maybe their business model is they charge for materials and that covers their overhead while 100% of their profit comes from labor?
