$48.95 for a two day ticket to watch my daughter perform the same 2 min, 30 second cheer routine each day for two days.

So just under $100 bucks for me and the wife to go (no pics of wife or cheerleader daughter).

There will be I'm sure at least 1,000 cheerleaders competeting, so if each brings two spectators, that's 2,000 attendees. Plus what they charge each team in competition fees.

I wish I knew the first dang thing about running a cheer competition. Then we would offer LSUFANHouston cheer tournamnets every weekend, and I'd be really OT Baller rich.

Man, youth sports are a racket...

There is a cheer organization here that an old acquaintance started. $600+/month per kid, probably about 150 kids. Printing money

frick that.. I mean I know you have to an all, its your daughter, but that's highway robbery.

The only thing like that I ever been to was a dance recital and this was a long time ago. We didn't have to pay, but we had to wait over an hour to see the person we went to see dance and it was about two or three minutes.

Are the parents similar to travel ball parents?

You ain't kidding. I really miss the days of rec league for like $100 for the season (including the "uniform") until middle school and then your play for you middle school/high school and then (for 99% of us) you go on to an illustrious intramural/pick up game college career.

The rec leagues have been decimated by $1,500/season (NOT including the $300 uniform) "academies" and "AAU" leagues all over the place prepping millions of kids for those college scholarships and pro careers.

My parish just spend several million dollars upgrading its park facilities, which included adding more fields.. Not because of rec ball, but because it can host travel ball tournaments. Brings people from all over into town, they charge for entry into the park, etc.. Its a billon dollar industry.

So do the rec leagues still exist? For parents whose kids just want to get some fun and exercise and learn the game and sportsmanship? Y'know...like sports are supposed to be?

And everyone wins "Nationals." I've never met a single cheer parent whose kid did not win "Nationals."

My parents had all boys so they didn't know anything about cheer or dance practice. My dad asked one of the parents of one of my little brothers teammates who is a family friend about their daughter and cheer/dance. The dad said "that cheer/dance stuff is 10,000x worse than baseball. It is every. single. night."

Yes. A lot of kids play travel ball so it has hurt rec ball, but there are kids who play both, but from what I understand they just don't have a lot of teams in rec ball.

Playground leagues are still like $25. Our middle school teams average $30.

My niece did this and now cheers in college, and I've never seen her cheer in person for this reason. They'd be in town for an event, and I'd have to pass on paying $200-300 plus parking plus concessions to see her perform. Sorry.

Now my DAUGHTER is doing this, and luckily my wife agrees the cost is stupid, so she is the one that goes. Fees for this. Uniform. Accessories. Fees. Fees. Fees.

Everything is this way now. One kid does chorus, at every turn there are fees.

Signed up kids for summer camp, and on top of the registration, if you pick certain areas of interest...more fees.

Where we live, there is no “rec” cheer or dance.

Long ago I dated a chick for a long time that was out of my league. She was into beauty pageants. She won damn near all of the ones she entered.

I am telling you now. Start a beauty pageant circuit. like 50 bucks to enter and then additional fees if you want be considered for shite like best eyes or prettiest smile.

Your only overhead is a venue, some cheap arse trophies, and a sash for the winners.

I am convinced you could clean up doing this across rural America....Hell, the venues would cost you next to nothing as you could probably use the local High School autitorium.
