That's blood money.
I wonder what they do with it if it is there? A large portion of that fortune was stolen from Jewish families.

That's a very good question. I guess if there is any gold on the train it will fall under Polish law as to what is done with it.

So the two people that found it gave up the location? Wonder if they got their 10% deal or whatever they were seeking as recompense for the discovery?

I guess that's how it works. They notify the authorities and get to keep a percentage as a finders fee of sorts kinda like a salvage claim from a shipwreck.

Miles of tunnels under mountains and they blew a lot of them up. Wouldn't be hard for a train to be under there and unreachable without massive amounts of money and effort being spent to excavate.

I don't think " lost" is the right word. Hidden maybe.

If I found gold on a shipwreck, my arse is pocketing as much as I can, I'm geo tagging the location, then telling the authorities about it weeks after I've stashed the gold.
