That must be of a certain size because places like Highland Park, TX have much higher per capita income.

Well of course, LIVING in Midland, especially long-term, isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. I know I wouldn't want to. But that's not what this report was doing.

Results like this are important to the Midland area, though, as it has helped with supporting industries investing money and resources into the public education system in Midland County, which is sorely needed. The schools have seen great improvement in just the past few years, and UT-Permian Basin and its students have greatly benefited as well.

It's done by metropolitan statistical area. Highland Park is part of the DFW msa.

Well no shite. But if you don’t think there is a correlation I can’t help you. Plus HP isn’t just wealthy most of the people living there are of working age and their income support living there. They are not only wealthy but also have very high incomes.

I wonder how they track that, because a large percentage of workers in Midland don't actually live there.

I don’t understand how Midland is $140k + and Odessa which is right next door is $55k. Both places are shitholes.

I remember Belzoni, Ms made this list once a long time ago when catfish farming was big in the 90s. I think it was top 20

Good times. Parties at shops every Friday with crawfish and hired strippers dancing in beds of trucks, illegal casinos, all the farmers had private planes, sports cars, huge homes, drove Lincoln town cars on the ponds instead of trucks (they had the nickname Isola Fords back then). Knew guys who had college girls working in hatcheries in string bikinis and would fly them to the Bahamas at the end of each season.

Now the area is a vast graveyard of what was once there. Really makes me sad, I hate our government they’ve ruined every good thing ever built in this country
