Respectfully I disagree. In a broad sense, man needs to push the limits of his ability. It seems like a waste of time and money, but a few generations from now, the ability to zip around the solar system will be routine. Looking far out into the future, Earth will not be the same place it is today. In several billion years, it will be uninhabitable. And, if man has not already exterminated himself, the sun will eventually end life here on this planet. Sooooo, wouldn't that mean that finding ways to escape this world mean the continuation of mankind? I say yes.
