My son's teacher counts off 10pts per misspelled word

He's in the 7th grade. That seems far too much. Does anyone agree? He used 81 words and got a 90 for leaving off one letter (itroduced). The principals both stand behind the teacher on the issue. At least 2 students got 70's for misspelling words.

Kids likely won't spell shite wrong from now on. Bitch move, but it could work. This won't end well for you.

Introduced is a pretty big misspelled word. No grades officially count until high school anyways. Its a hard lesson he might as well learn now. You should be happy she is holding him to higher standards. Tell your kid to spell the fricking word right, and that spelling is important. Too many fricking purposely misspelled words these days, need some control.

You used 46 words and got an 80 so far...

Used 81 words? in a writing assignment ? Principal sounds like push over.

Wow. Did you really just cut down 2 other 7th graders to make your son look like less of a retard? Bravo.
How do you miss the n in introduced anyway? Be happy he didn't get a fricking F for that shite.

quote:Nope. Misspelling words can cost you entrance to a university and job interviews. Just tell your kid to learn how to spell properly and he'll be fine.

Besides if the policy is # of spelling errors regardless of how much one writes, then it just incentivize students to write less. Frankly, the teacher's policy is shortsighted and I question his critical-thinking.
