If it helps any I argued with my parents 24/7 until I moved out, we got much much closer after. Everyone seems to have a similar story also. You raise them for this moment, gotta let em spread their wings and fly

Goddamn you old farts won't stop reminding me that my little ones are going to grow up really fast and that I need to appreciate every second of the now.
And I appreciate it every time.
And I appreciate it every time.

it is great to see how he has grown. but.....when I go to his bedroom, I might cry like my wife.

Is this for college? Dwell on the fact that you raised a man to compete out in the world. I think that's a great thing.

Sorry you're having a hard time of it. Our son was a little surprised at how not sad we were when he moved out.

May have gone home 1 time my first semester of college. Needed the freedom and now I'm closer than ever to both parents.

If you're paying their rent then they aren't moving out, just moving to your 2nd home.

NO NO NO NO. You simply don't remember having four of them home with you for 2 weeks during Xmas(you have to use most of your vacation time to sit home with them while out of school) and wanting to strangle them little frickers.
I want them all to move out.

When I left for college, my mother sank into a depression for several months. I didn't know anything about this. I was having the time of my life

If you are successful as a parent this is what happens. I know it does not make it easier and is an emotional adjustment. You miss your kid but try to focus on the positives like his maturing, less groceries to buy, the house is quieter, more time for you and the wife, etc.
