My dumbass brother might get charged with animal cruelty for saving cats

My dumbass brother and his wife are bleeding hearts. They found 2 cats outside their apartment, took them in bathed them, took them to a vet and got them all fixed up. Cats then immediately attacked my 2 year old nephew so they bought a bag of cat food, bag of litter, two cat kennels and dropped them off outside a shelters door and walked away. Well apparently now one of the Animal rights ladies that volunteers is threatening to charge him with animal cruelty because he abandoned them.
Is this possible? Seems kinda silly but I have no idea. Anyone ever have something similar to this happen.

I agree completely. There's a special place in hell for people who beat animals but this is a fuching joke. I told him to go pick them up and we'll go drop them off at animal control but apparently that lady won't let them back into his possession.

Seems very unlikely an officer would actually follow through with this. Most of the ones I've known would not pay this situation any attention. They have enough on their plate with real cruelty cases
