I have a few friends who have lost both parents already. Believe me, I know how incredibly lucky I am to still have both of mine. I thank God every day.

Aint that the truth. I seem to forget this often.

I lost my Mother and all four Grandparents while in my 20's, but I still have my Dad, Brother, Sister, and several Aunts and Uncles.

I appreciate everything that I have and am always thankful

I really never had grandparents, my dad lost both his parents when he was young, he never even met his mom. My mom lost her mom at 13 and her dad when she was a little older.
I wish we never had to experience loss

They died before they could teach you manners and compassion.

Mines are still alive. They bother the shite out of me daily with phone calls about what the weekend plans are. And why my dad's computer fonts are fricked up. I often hang up with one of them like "God damn! They old and crazy." then I wanna call back and chat. Or go over and drink beer and eat my mom's cooking.

And I love it.

My dad is in Hospice care so it wont be long until i lose my idol and my best friend. Im staying with him at his house to help him in this time and will stay until he passes. I was laid off a couple months ago. When his health took a turn for the worse my wife said she thinks i was meant to help him at this time. Its the hardest thing i ever had to do. Hes like a 73 year old baby, needs help with everything. The worst part about doing this is the look in his eyes. Complete helplesness and confusion is all i see i dont see that same man i always admired for his strength.

I'm sure it never gets any easier. My dad and I live a good distance apart, but we are very close and I dread the thought of living without a chance to talk to him.

I think you should appreciate the fact that your father was involved with your life enough that you even know when he died. My dad died in '09, but I couldn't tell you what day it was because I don't really care. He was never really around anyways and when he was he was drunk as hell.

Try to look at the positives in your life. Every negative thought you have can always have a positive spin.

I'm not even 30 yet and my dad has already had major heart blockage(required surgery) and started to show signs of slowing down. Don't know if it is from work or age but it sucks. Not looking forward to that day

You are right about this. My dad had a rough 2016 phyisically and financially. Two days ago my brother calls me from the er because my dad gashed the shite out of his leg. Like half dollar size chunk. Flesh missing. They could barely stitch it. The man is close to 70. He was really hoping this year would be better. Makes me want to cry just thinking about how miserable he is.
