Yeah, and my dialup is acting up too. I'm really worried because I haven't checked my AOL in about two days.

Good. That'll stretch out your 50 free hrs.

I just want to post a big frick YOU to Cox right now. Tried calling on my dad's behalf to just get their internet service suspended/turned off...whatever since their trailer is flooded and obviously they will not be needing service there. I just didn't want them getting billed more money right now. My dad's cell coverage is crap thanks to ATT so it's hard for him to make all these calls where they are at. Since I can't be there in LA to help clean up, the least I can do is make these phone calls for him.

Cox rep on the phone: "Well I'm sorry about your dad...but he is gonna have to call himself and make any changes to the account. But I'll make a notation about it." Asked him if there is anyway they can at least pause service so my family isn't billed anymore...nope...again my dad has to call directly.

I then call Direct TV(they have them for cable, COX for internet). The woman was super nice on the phone and immediately placed a 6 month suspension on the account and assured me they would receive no more bills.

This usually happens after every major flooding event. There main hub/switch for phone is located in central. not saying this is why, but it's a good possibility.

Cox / Comcast can burn in eternal hell from my experience.

So you think any random stranger should be able to call up and cancel someone else's services?

No, but during extraordinary events there should be a little bit more flexibility than that.

No, but in situations like this they could have at least paused their service until my dad can call them to cancel.

I had all my dad's information to give them.

Like I said....Direct tv didn't give me this run around and immediately put a suspension on the account and wished my family well.
