Reckless Motorcyclist Taunts Police and Is Arrested After Running Out of Gas
CALCASIEU PARISH – A Moss Bluff man was arrested early this morning after operating a motorcycle in a reckless manner and taunting law enforcement officers.
Shortly after midnight on February 21, 2015, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office notified Louisiana State Police Troop D that they were attempting to stop a motorcycle on Interstate 10 in Lake Charles for traffic infractions. They advised that the operator of the motorcycle was taunting deputies and refused to stop.
A state trooper encountered the motorcycle on Interstate 10 in Lake Charles near the Calcasieu River Bridge traveling 96 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour zone. The rider refused to stop, taunted the trooper using hand gestures, and then accelerated to speeds over 100 miles per hour.
Additional units responded in an effort to apprehend the motorcyclist. The operator of the motorcycle, 27-year-old Phillip Hebert of Moss Bluff, was located outside of a residence along LA 3256 near Iowa, LA. The motorcycle he was riding had run out of gas.
