ALL kids need more of that & less of excuse makers.
Kudos to that guy

They probably forgot everything he said already, are smoking weed right now, and playing video games instead of doing their homework.
And he would probably respond that he knows that many of them did just that. And would also say if he got through to just one kid and made a difference, then he did his job and is grateful for that.
Just fathom for a moment, helping change one person's life path. It's very rewarding and I speak from experience.

Finish the brag. Tells us how you saved some inner city youth or helped some little old lady cross the street. We are on pins and needles.

Motivational Speaker demonstrates the importance of education and proper usage of the English language through a new "example by opposite" technique where he appears completely unintelligent and slaughters the English language in an attempt to make the children strive to be better than himself.

Please tell me you're not involved in any way with mentoring or guiding the youth. Good lord please tell me LSU TANGERINE is not responsible for the future of some of the youth of this country

Yeah, I poison their minds with the same stuff I write on TD.

If he had shown up wearing a suit and speaking the queen's English, they would have paid even LESS attention to him.
The message is infinitely more important than the delivery. He is communicating in a way that best reaches his target audience.

I get it. His audience was full of borderline retards so he had to act borderline retarded because had he acted like an intelligent respectful adult non of the ignorant dipshit retards in that student body would've listened right? That's what you're saying right? That those kids don't deserve respect and can't get treated as intellegent because they're too stupid to understand those things?

It's an inner city St. Louis school. They didn't have the same upbringing as you or I. They don't absorb information the same way. For many of them, the only way to reach them is to constantly remind them that there are others who were like them who made it out and became successful.

It's not mutually exclusive, IMO. You can address them in a manner that resonates while still respecting their intelligence.

That's the kind of black leader these kids need.

It's not like he was using some fake accent in order to help them relate. That's how he actually talks. As far as the issues that plague the American black community go, imperfect grammar is near the bottom of the list in importance. Self respect, respect for others, and a strong work ethic, however, are at the top. This guy is a perfect example of that. If you work hard and treat people right you can live a successful and fulfilling life, regardless of where you came from.

Yeah idk why it's such a big deal with the way he speaks. Is it that hard to understand why he is successful? Hey I talk like you, I look like you, I came from the same background as you... I am you.... And I made it out. I'm successful.
He reached a couple kids I'm sure, but self motivating at a young age is hard. Kids don't see the big picture, and their message at home (where it matters) molds them into trash. One of the biggest responsibilities in life is being a good parent. You have so much influence on how your kid will turn out.

I'll say it.
He named the problem but didn't focus on it. He said we survived slavery. He said we survived Jim Crow US. He said we are surviving today...
That's the problem. Surviving slavery and persecution/racism is one thing and means something. Surviving today means something totally different. It means doing the bare minimum to get by. The opposite of surviving is thriving. With all of the aid the youth and adults get, you have to ask and demand for more than survival. You can't look at that as a plus today.
Even after Jim Crow laws there was thriving.
