Those damn Yoopers.
Although many of them probably lived in Detroit at one point or had relatives and friends who did and saw what the black population, (for whatever reason) did to that once great city.
Could engender some bitterness, perhaps not without cause.
Just think about how former residents of Jackson view that place now.

It worked for Birmingham fwiw.
They've pushed the minorities to the outer parts of town. Birmingham is a lot nicer than it was not too long ago.

Its easy to not be racist when you live in an area of few minorities.

That's fairly accurate. Racism is natural to the body. We normally are against things different than our own.
