Golfers in Palmetto, Florida, could be forgiven for thinking they had stumbled off the course and into Jurassic Park at the weekend.

While playing a typical Sunday game at Buffalo Creek Golf Course, Charles Helms was able to get a video of a monster alligator casually strolling across the course.

The dinosaur-like gator looked even bigger when another man came into the frame to take a picture - but apparently he is quite a regular sight in the area. Read more:

If the gator decided to eat one of the golfers, he could easily run them down and do so.

Coastal states are teeming with alligators. It's hard to imagine that gators were on the protected species list for decades. Was it just over trapping/hunting that led to the reduced populations? Or something else? Or maybe they were never that endangered?

... maybe if the golfer is standing too close and is unathletic. Otherwise, no. They can be somewhat fast for a short burst, but gators simply don't run for any appreciable distance.
