The fact that the FDA is letting them put it in 30,000 people means it is safe. The study released today shows it is effective in people under 65 for a period of at least months. In phase 2, they put it in about 800 people including people over 65. When the effectiveness data from phase 2 comes back at the end of August or beginning of September, it will be approved for emergency use.

Currently this Vaccine has proven to be safe and effective in healthy people under 65 and safe in all people.

Then you can bet your arse he'll contradict this in a week or two.

Normally, I'd agree. But a vaccine has always been his end game, from the time he helped obtain funding for and set up gain of function research in Wuhan, through his power and fame grab as novel ancient really bad cold virus czar, no-mask then mask-maven, and so forth. so he'll be pushing a dubious vaccine consistently, I'm very certain.

From a sample size of like 100 people right?
You could give those same 100 people covid directly and the likely scenario is they all turn out fine which would show covid isn’t dangerous.....

Rapid rush to push a vax out is concerning, but I get it... Guillain Barre as the swine flu of 1976 goes. I will be the in the first groupings to receive this thing once it gets approved being an EMS 911 provider health care worker. Want to make sure that it is good to go, and man I don't want to turn into a rougaroux !

Moderna's stock shot up a couple hours before this news came out. The right people were informed of this well in advance and have already made out like bandits. Insider trading is fricking every investor in this country.

It had to prove safety in the phase 2 trial which was a group of around 800 all ages, to be approved for phase 3 trials. If 800 people of all ages were infected with covid, the likelihood would be that 15-30 would be hospitalized and 4 would die. The key is the development of immune response in the phase 2 trial patients over 65. If that happens, it will be approved for emergency and go to the elderly and hospital staff until there is enough for everyone.

Some of you are comically stupid.

This is how drug development works.

Morderna begins Phase 3 studies of a vaccine for something they didn't know existed 7 months ago. If the trial that starts 7/27 goes well, they'll get emergency authorization perhaps as early as December 2020.

Which just happens to be the vaccine that Fauci is involved with. Shocker, but I don’t give a shite if it gets our lives back to normal I’m good with it.

Moderna's stock "shot up" because they announced the Phase 3 start date. It was actually a pretty mild day for Moderna.

They then announced after hours the 45 patient results, and then the stock shot up 16%.

Should go to elderly and people with BMI over 40 first. Even before hospital staff

In 1957, the US developed a vaccine for the novel flu pandemic that killed at a rate greater than covid in 9 Months.

I’m stupid from thinking it’s a little ridiculous to think a 45 person sample is meaningful?

But Tuesday, researchers reported anxiously awaited findings from the first 45 volunteers who rolled up their sleeves back in March. Sure enough, the vaccine provided a hoped-for immune boost.

I am sorry, but we truly know nothing about this particular vaccine yet

It's close to the $87 peak it hit a few weeks ago on the first report of this Phase I study. Been a pretty shitty month or so, but a very impressive 2020.
