Finishing up BOLC here at Fort Leonard Wood ( ) and have our final APFT tomorrow. I always do pretty well and I don't really do much of a ritual before the test.

I know some people go all out in preparation for the pt test with some crazy routines. Just was wondering what all y'all have done over the years.

If you are at BOLC then you are young, so

Seriously, I am just a tad bit older (ahem) than you so for me it is some type of energy drink and/or Gatorade energy gel with Ben Gay on (as a minimum) the triceps (yes whippersnapper, you will get old one day too).

And stretch when they let you. And then stretch some more (the stuff you learned in ROTC or OCS - you know the deal).

Best of luck brother

Eat some boiled chicken and rice. Drink plenty of water. Get a good night's rest. No sugar. No caffeine (unless it's a part of your morning routine).

Witcha boot arse.

Pasta.

On that same subject, I've started strength training since I plateaued and it's helped tremendously

ETA: Chem, Eng, mp?

My Soldiers always go to sick call and get a profile. What the hell BOLC is at Leonard wood, MPs or engineers? Sex on the night before always helps me perform well the next morning. I also used to use the breath right strips during the run to help and had a PT mat so my tail bone wasn't rubbed raw with my blazzzzzingly fast sit-ups. I also liked to get in the front of the line so I finished first and had a few minutes longer to recover before the run.

For the record, I jacked my knee up in Iraq and am on a permanent profile and get to swim for my cardio portion. It is sweet, but I no longer can score a 300. Good luck and enjoy your PL time after graduation.

BTW, where is your first duty assignment.

I'm not at basic, haha. Those days are long gone. But I do see AIT kids with their phones...

And it's MP that's at Fort Leonard Wood along with engineer and chemical.

Always do a couple of reps of push ups and sit ups right before you actually start the event.

Jog to the starting point of the run as a warm up.

That's all I got.

This. Pasta? Water? The pussification of America is real.

Seriously though, when I had my yearly PT exam, this old bastard would sit in his truck chain smoking until the start of the event and then proceed to kick all of our asses. It was insane.

Warm up a little but there is nothing you can do now to improve your score. Congrats on completing BOLC.

Absolutely. I wasn't really asking for advice as I usually do well..there were just some dudes in complete freak out mode earlier today about it and it got me thinking about the dumb shite people do.

Personally I'm about to eat steak and mashed potatoes. Nothing special here.

I was whipped into shape real quick at Benning haha. No rituals or routines though. Just tried to keep up with the pack and it got me better. You'll do fine and congrats on BOLC

I never did anything special other than smoke a cig between the sit-ups and run.
