I usually just buy kernels bulk and do the stove thing but I'm out of those and have a bag of "Camp Masters" microwaveable popcorn, which is actually pretty good.

I've found that a good way to make sure the butter/oils are evenly distributed is to "mix"m them up with my fingers by pinching the bag and moving the kernels around pre-microwave.

This is my question: in order to achieve minimal burn/maximum poppage, which would be the better route: cluster them all in the center "console" of the bag, or spread the kernels throughout the bag?

This is some pretty deep stuff possibly requiring heavy reflection and/or ridicule so I eagerly await both.

Stick the bag in the freezer before popping. The water inside the kernel that makes it pop will begin to expand when it freezes. Thus maximum popping potential.
