Mexico spinoff..why not just invite the US military in....

Have us bring in 500-100k troops and just abolish the cartels and the crops. Have us a couple of bases there and we help their police going forward with raids and arrests, until the its cleaned up and maintainable. And they also help secure the border from that side.
It would be a win all the way around for everyone. And before you speak of costs, it would immediately reduce the costs we already spend fighting all of this shite.

So...we have an issue with people coming across the border illegally and the plan here is to send in troops to fight what will become a heavily armed insurgency, which further destabilizes the country causing a humanitarian crisis that leads to even more people trying to cross the border?

The cartels might be more dangerous than ISIS. A lot of those guys are former military. Some are even former SF. As much as I would like to wipe out the cartels, it would be a legitimate conflict. There would be no room for PC bullshite.
