Councilwoman Chauna Banks, a Democrat and vocal supporter of the COA and its executive director, Tasha Clark-Amar, says the debates over the agency’s management and campaign tactics should be separate from the plan to get seniors into a new building.
quote:
“The agency needs a building to be able to perform the duties and mandates and carry out its agenda, its goals. I don’t see why that would change at all,” Banks says. “The elderly needs it. The agency needs it.”
quote:
Banks at the council meeting earlier this month brought Clark-Amar to the podium and cited scripture while praising the nonprofit director. Clark-Amar is also the subject of a controversy over whether she should have accepted $500 per month over the next 20 years for serving as the overseer of a deceased COA client’s will. Clark-Amar served the woman, Helen Plummer, at the COA before Plummer died. Clark-Amar has since stepped down as executrix of the will.

The new tax was to help them with their current budget, not go out and dig a bigger hole. They just can't keep from spending.

Can we just ignore everything Chauna Banks says? She is a bonafide idiot.

you know it's gonna pass. Let's keep pumping money into things that aren't severely needed, and forget about roads and drainage.

Is the building getting old?

The people that screw over the elderly want a new building?

This shite has become tantamount to an admission of guilt in the black community. Claim racism first and if that fails, shower in scripture.

You know how much corruption and waste will happen in that process?

Predictable and pathetic.
The worst offenders among us are the ones throwing scripture around to mask their agenda.

I don't think they're trying to mask anything but rather justify their indefensible actions.
Just like the chick in the Judge Erwin debacle. She steals $80,000, doesn't pay it back, goes to jail, and starts yammering on about God and never addresses why she went to jail in the first place.

They really need to stop this COA crap. If the Metro Council wants a new center go out and find some private doners. Why are the tax payers always responsible?

Because idiot voters think that renters don't pay property taxes.

I could be wrong but I think the big building across the street from Texas Club now reads "Council of Aging"....

That's the bingo hall they thought would generate tons of cash, but they fricked that up too and lost a lot

Dumb bitch can't even get correct subject verb agreement.
So if they can't do their job in the building there are in now how will they be able to effectively swindle old people out of their money in an expensive new building?

Didn't Tarsha say that her family is wealthy and that's how she was able to secure a $50k loan in order to keep her failures off the books and work out a tidy repayment plan?
