Anyone seeing anything? I got my daughter pumped up but we saw one last night and that's it.

Don't know where you are located, but here in BR the overcast weather ruins it.

What are the times? I might go take a look if it's going on. The thing with meteor showers is the sky isn't filled with them, they zoom by every so often. Very neat to see one though.

Estimates for the mass of material that falls on Earth each year range from 37,000-78,000 tons. Most of this mass would come from dust-sized particles.

The lightning flashes are drowning out the meteors.

Thanks, the Perseus meteor shower is probably the most famous. Didn't realize it was going on.

Perseids

The Perseids /'p?rsi??dz/ are prolific meteor showers associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. The Perseids are called so because the point from which they appear to hail (called the radiant) lies in the constellation Perseus.

The name is derived in part from the word Perseidai (Greek : ?e?se?da?), a term found in Greek mythology referring to the sons of Perseus.

Last night I read the best times were before and after the moon would be too bright - before 10 pm and again around 5 am.

Whenever this thing passed through the last time, it was pretty obvious to see. Shooting stars would pass across the same area of the sky fairly often.

We need the shower to wipe out all the shenanigans in Virginia.
