And he said that the perp used a credit card stolen from mom's purse which is probably how he/she got caught.

No one ever accused a criminal of being smart.

If true I wonder what JPSO is waiting for in making any announcements. They have been extremely quiet during the whole thing so far.

I have a friend who is a detective with JPSO and just texted him. Said they were caught last night.

I can't post a link to my text messages but this is great news. Good job JPSO.

Normand better step his game up. Crime in unincorporated JP is rising and people are taking notice. Gentrification in New Orleans has pushed the thugs into Metairie. I'm afraid to see what Metairie will look like ten years from now.

That's been happening ever since Katrina... there's section 8 housing in areas in Metairie that were nice quiet neighborhoods... My parents had one pop up 3 houses down from them....

Everyone on the block has a clean front yard with the grass cut.. The sec 8 house has junk cars in the driveway and the grass in never cut... Can spot it soon as you turn on the street..

There should be a law passed, if a home owner wants to collect section 8 funds on a property, he should send letters to all the surrounding home owners to get an ok with it.. Just like a variance on an addition or a rebuild..

It's sad but it was bound to happen. Most of Metairie is middle class neighborhoods surrounded by a street full of apartments. Who the hell though it was a good idea to build that way!?

The same thing happened ten yeays ago on my old street in Harvey. Now most of the neighborhood is Sec 8.

Sadly, this makes too much sense to ever happen. :sigh:

Those apartment complexes that were built in the 70's and 80's are destroying Metairie... Especially those nasty doubles along the I-10 service road..

Feds and HUD will be all over that with the quickness to claim racial housing discrimination. It's very hard to fight this crap.

Once warrant is executed, they'll announce. He'll have to deal with his issues in Orleans before he goes to JP anyway.

Someone I know who is closely connected to the family just posted on facebook that they haven't gotten whoever did it, yet. They thought that they had someone as a suspect but it didn't "pan out" (his words).

So they still don't know who did it? Or they do, but they haven't found them yet?

According to the thread so far all of the above plus several other scenarios...

All I know is what I was told by a JPSO detective. Hoping the arrest is valid, but who knows?

I was very specific in my question to him, just in case there were any other double homicides this past week in Metairie.
