Meet Baton Rouge's new Police Chief

He's got a surprisingly good background. Why didn't Broom make these appointments earlier in her term?
Supposedly BRPD will be cooperating more with LSP, which will be a good thing if you are familiar with Landry's plans for New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge has a new police chief. Here are Thomas Morse Jr.'s top priorities.
The Advocate
Baton Rouge’s new police chief was sworn in Tuesday morning, offering a glimpse into his plans for his first 100 days leading the Police Department.
Thomas “T.J.” Morse Jr. marked his first day in the position, officially ending the six-year tenure of his predecessor, Murphy Paul. Morse was appointed to the role following a five-month search after Paul announced his retirement in July.
Morse, a Slidell native and LSU graduate, has worked for the department for 20 years, most recently serving as commander of BRPD’s training division and a member of the Special Response Team (SWAT).
Morse said his top priorities for the start of his term include continuing the downward trend in violent crime, examining BRPD’s current policies and, above all else, listening and learning from the Baton Rouge community about their needs.

This guy is a white guilt version of Murphy, expect more of the same.

She's been making competent appointments lately which is weird.
But the Police Chief can't right the ship fast enough to repair Broom's legacy. An army of State Police officers patrolling Baton Rouge and the world's best public works department leads would still have trouble un-fricking everything that's been fricked during her tenure.
She'll go down as one of the worst mayors in Baton Rouge's history. The writing was on the wall from the day her office "accidentally" leaked the BRAVE CI contact list to the local media their first month in office - followed up immediately by hiring a complete idiot with a fabricated resume to her staff.

This dude is gonna have every "community activist" in the parish going after him and Broome is gonna leave him twisting in the wind

This guy doesn't stand a chance. Every time they arrest a black person he will be labeled racist. At the press conference announcing his hire the local head of the NAACP was in the background watching his every move. The honeymoon will not last 60 days.

I don't think there's going to be a honeymoon

Well, this won’t end well.
Just get control of the lawless population & it’s a win

Yet she’ll be re-elected. Probably by a wide margin.

Yep.
Just like Latoya. As bad as she is, her replacement is going to be even worse than her. We're in the death spiral.

There is a three fold process to overcome this nonsense.
1) You have to grow a very thick skin. You have come to the firm knowledge and belief that you yourself are not a racist and that you judge people only by their actions and not their skin color. Then you need to ignore, ridicule, or directly challenge anyone who claims you are a racist.
2) A significant number of normal folks from the majority of people who aren’t race baiters, both white and black, need to vocally oppose the woke race-bating bull crap, whenever it rears its ugly head.
3) The leader who has the power to hire and fire (mayor) needs to be strong in ignoring/opposing the race-bating crap.
The majority of the citizens need to

Supposedly the money people told her to fix the crime problem and threatened to withdraw support from her.

I wish this young man’s the best, but he can’t do it by himself. Unfortunately the mayor and the council need to be heavily involved.
First they need to increase the pay of veteran and entry level cops.
That will boost morale, but more important, they will be able to retain cops and recruit more cops.
Second, they need to increase the number of cops so they can put more boots in the ground.
Third, he needs to join in with the Sheriff, the DA, and the Feds to target the gangs. They are public enemy #1.
Fourth, they need to take back the streets and curtail all this lawlessness that we see each and every day. Public safety is the goal. Widespread anarchy undermined public safety.
Fifth in conjunction with the good the mayor needs to clean up the parish. Help the Tigertown lady. Don’t just give her lip service. A trashy city creates more trash. Appoint a clean up Czar. Give him/her assets. Start on River Road and work east block by block picking up trash, fixing issues, striping roads, fixing signs and make things right.
It won’t be fixed over night, but all we do now are cosmetic things. It’s symbolism over substance. Years of neglect put us in this hole, it will take years to fix it.
This plan benefits all. White, black, Hispanic, churches, businesses and schools. It hurts the gangs and those that thrive in rot and decay.

If he's not after street racers this weekend then he's out of touch.
