So sorry..... My 7 year old Lab/Terrier mix was diagnosed with Lymphoma in mid February.... We had her on Predisone for a few weeks to keep her comfy and feel like herself, and it worked...She had a great 3 weeks, eating everything in site, running & playing... The meds only worked for so long, before the sickness began to win the battle... She was on her second day of not eating much and just laying around.... That puppy dog look in her eyes was no longer there and I knew it was time, even though I kept trying to convince myself that she was just having a bad day....But that was just my selfishness... I fed her some chicken nuggets and chicken thighs by hand the night before, and rubbed her head for a little while then went to sleep. Next morning I called for her, but she did not come around the corner.... She went peaceful and in her sleep....As hard as it is, I couldn't have asked for a better way for her to go...

I'm crying my eyes out now

That's a great looking dog. Sorry for what you are going through. It's awful.

the trouble with pets is, they just don't live as long as we do...

it is an exceedingly difficult thing to do, but I honestly wish someone could do the same for me when my time comes...

This thread brought back memories. The boxer in my sig died of a heart attack. It happened when he was sleeping with me in my bed. Well, his thing was always at bedtime, he jumped in bed and ducked his head for me to pet it. I would pet, and when I stopped, he would nudge my hand with his paw. This would go on and on until finally I said no and he'd lie down and go to sleep.

When the heart attack hit, he fell on me and was paralyzed. He couldn't move anything, but when I would get up, his eyes followed me. It was 4 am and I had to wait for the vet to open. I laid with him and pet him. I was so tired, I would start falling asleep. As soon as I quit, he would tap his paw nails on the head board, barely. I would pet, he would stop. When I stopped, he tapped. He did this until I carried him to the car, and he died while I was knocking on the vets door, in my arms.

It makes me sad to think about it.

OP, thoughts are with you.

My first dog was named Sadie, got her when I was in 4th grade. Was in grad school when my parents called and told me it was time.

Meh, you can buy you another one that looks exactly like it.
Weeks time you'll never know the difference.

I won't tell you what happened to my other dog when the first died.

You have it worse, making that decision. I can just tell you it gets easier with time and you just hold on to the good memories. Just love on your other lab and help each other get through the next couple of days. You seem like a good dude.
