Man Who Invented General Tso's Chicken Has Died

Chinese chef Peng Chang-kue—the guy who created General Tso's Chicken—has joined the long list of beloved people the world has lost in 2016, Taiwan News reports.
The chicken dish can be traced back to 1952, when Peng first whipped up the golden ginger-garlic delight for a US Naval admiral named Arthur W. Rutherford. Rutherford asked Peng what the meal was called, and, in a stroke of inspiration, the chef decided to name it after respected Hunan war general Tso Tsung T'ang. The rest is history.

Peng is a god damn American treasure and I'm ordering Chinese tomorrow strictly because of this. I grew up crazy poor and Chinese food was our go to in our area because you could feed the family on 4 bucks.

I always assumed General Tso was an ancient Chinese hero who fought the Mongols or something cool like that. I am disappoint.

Seriously, next to Mexicans we have more Chinese immigrants than from any other country, and I can't find a halfway decent Chinese restaurant save but in New York and San Francisco?
frick that. He ruined cuisine in this country and fried everything. He's been an endless source of my frustration with American Chinese.

Anyone else watch the documentary on Netflix about General Tso chicken? They even made a stop at Trey Yeun in Hammond.
