Interesting, but my Darwin vote for the weekend is with this guy:

Sometimes fireworks just blow the hell up. I once saw a Roman candle, like parents let their kids hold as they shoot little balls of fire, blow up like a stick of dynamite.

In this case it generated quite a bit of revenue. The fireworks, alcohol, medical attention, mortuary and burial services, florists, and a new job opening.
Considering how dumb you have to be to set off fireworks on your head, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that last part doesn't apply.

That must have been a horrible scene. Imagine drinking and having a good time then seeing your friend's head explode and watching him die.

This is not a bad thing. Now this guy can't have little idiots of his own.

I would have put money on him being white plus I didn't think any black folk liked in Maine. Its like Florida but cold

The article I read said he was holding the fireworks and a lighter, and they were lit on accident. I don't think he was trying to fire them off of his head. His brother also said they didn't rush him to the hospital because there was nothing left.

That's just ridiculous

Alligator guy went out on his own terms. Not everyone can say that.

I can only imagine how messy of a cleanup that was for the local ME

Ex Disney Cast Member Dies in Freak Accident
Devon Staples was a good looking 22 year old with his whole life ahead of him. He was once a cast member at Disney World, he played Gaston and a few other characters around the parks.
On July 4th he set off a firework on his head and sadly did not survive. He was celebrating the Fourth of July in Maine with family and friends. He was holding a lighter and accidentally caused the mortar tube on his head to go off. According to his brother, Cody Staples, “I was the first one who got there. There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there,” “It was a freak accident.”
He is described as having a great sense of humor and would do anything to make people laugh. And he always stuck up for the underdog. He loved his job at Disney because he could make people laugh and make their day a bit brighter.
As a tribute to Devon his brother wants everyone to go out and do something nice for someone else. Show love to someone that you don’t know. Sounds good to me!
Our condolences got out to his family and friends.

Ok, so I knew this story would eventually make the OT. I literally drove through Calais 1 hour after this happened heading to our vacation spot. We drove right down South St. past the Wal-Mart and saw a couple of cop cars with flashing blue lights. Didn't think much of it until we found out what happened the following morning.

[]The "No Swimming Alligators" sign was posted this week after a 10-foot alligator was spotted in the bayou waters.[/]
Maybe he thought the sign meant that the alligators couldn't swim.
