I don’t agree with him really.

But I also don’t disagree with him.

He’s not even original. Hanging up your own work has already been beaten to death.

Modern art takes no skill.

It is art for the lazy.

The lowest common denominator of art.

The tentacle he painted took more talent than half the splotches and paint splatters that go for millions.

I kinda want to buy a huge commercial building and just let random people hang up their art in it and label it all as “this is a rare original by such and such” and call the building “ (whatever city it’s in) rare art museum and see how many idiots pay to see it

I agree. At one point we had the likes Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and now today we have like this rock-n-roll music.

And yet his act of "trickery" is full of meaning which now that we know the context, gives the painting meaning. Knowing the context of any work of art is the key to understanding the meaning and most people, myself included, don't have the time to research every work of art and hence don't get it. Without knowing the story behind the work of art it loses relevancy to the viewer but to call it "meaningless" is intellectually lazy. Unless we are talking minimalism/reductivism who's main goal was nothingness. But if you know the context of minimalism/reductivism, it has mucho meaning. Si?

i think that's what should be taken away from modern art. It doesnt mean much, doesnt represent much, but if you like it thats fine.

when people start pointing at splatters on canvas and are saying shite like "you can see the artist frustration and rage in this piece" you just have to say frick off.
