I like to screw them a little bit too; not to actually rob them though.
Ex. When the total is $7.82, I’ll hand them a ten, three-ones, a nickel, and two pennies ($13.07). Ideally I’m looking to get a five and a quarter back. But sometimes their heads spin. Once had a lady take the ten and key that in, hand me the change from that, then hand me the extra cash/coins I gave her.
I’ll admit that I don’t get to do this too much anymore because I pay for everything with the card these days.

When I was a teen I worked in a bookstore and a guy came in and did something similar to trick one of the cashiers. Kept asking for different denominations in change. I think he got about $75. But I'll never forget the book he "bought." It was Games People Play.

Good luck finding a Popeyes where you could carry on a conversation with a cashier long enough to make the con work.

I'm surprised why this actually made news. I worked at the movie theater back in the early 90s and we went through training about people like this, it seems it has always happened and continues to still happen every day across the world

LOL!! This happened to this cocky POS I know. He thought he knew everything and was so smart..He got taken for a couple hundred. Same scam with buying back the hundred and getting change, We never let that POS forget it!

This happened to a bartender when i worked at bennigans. Dude came in, said he paid with a hundred when he gave her a 10.
She was so busy she assumed he was honest. One of hardest thongs i had to do was tell her she had to pay out of pocket for it (she was basically a cashier, she is responsible for her drawer)
Funny part is, about a week later she was eating at sammys southside and same dude came in, she called him out and police were called with his license plate. I dunno what happened to him, but she showed his picture to every restaurant withon 5 miles

You ever been really hungry and ate at Chick-fil-A?
That amount of $20s won't fit in a wallet.

I had a guy try that when I worked for Wal Mart back int he day - he asked for his change - told him no - he got upset, so i told him i gave back the original Bill - he said i didn't. so I said, well we have it on camera and if you'd like i can call a manager back to review it with him - he said no and left.
amazes me people can fall for this
