I figure we can try and keep all road closures in one thread. I’ll update it with info as we go

511la.org LADOTD Road closures interactive map

Google maps interactive map (traffic toggle is at the bottom)

North shore road closures as of 11pm 8/29

quote:

Poster in the sticky thread said you exit i10 east near Sorrento to Airline (hwy 61) and take that all the way to Kenner. Google maps confirms this.

Also heard Highway 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans is open.

I’ll reiterate what I’m hearing and what Imaps and Google Maps is saying.

You can get from Kenner to Gulf Shores on I10 no issues.

You can take I90 from Lafayette to Kenner no problem.

If you want to take I10 from BR to Kenner you can take it until you get to Sorrento exit then you gotta go Airline to 310 or stay on Airline till you get to Kenner. Basically stay away of Laplace, it’s flooded.

I know this will be downvoted to hell and back, but understand I'm sitting on pins and needles right now too with family and friends that were impacted.

You guys need to let emergency services assess the damage, assess the roads, etc. before trying to head home. You're going to end up taking resources away from the people that stayed and need them right now, and there's also a risk that you'll get turned back.

Until at least the roads have been cleared, all you're doing is putting yourself in harm's way.

It's shitty to have to wait, but you really need to consider this and give it another day or two before trying to get back.

EDIT: I'm talking about the hard hit areas like Terrebonne, Lafourche, LaPlace, Grand Isle, etc., not areas like BR.

If you can wait, you should.

Is this accurate? Or not really assessed due to not getting out yet and determining what’s covering the roads?

I’m not sure, but I’m in your same boat. Trying to get back into Lafourche parish from Lafayette. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Let us know what you run into. I’ll be trying to go Lafayette to New Orleans. But 90/310/10 from Houma to Laplace all look impassable right now

I assume something like Waze is only as reliable as the people out in the roads using it, correct?

Waze may pull in data from DOTD, but I don’t expect that DOTD map is reliable right now.

Great thread. We are in Florida trying to get back to Lafayette. From the DOTD site, the roads look fine, but on Google Maps, I’m seeing road closures on 1-10 W and I-55 N which also extends into I-12 W.

I’m in Lafayette trying to get back to Nola so we can help each other. But the storm is gone in my direction. It’s till moving east. Be careful on the roads if you’re planning to try and make that drive today.

I’ll make a decision this evening but if there’s any chance I can get back home tonight I’ll be making the drive

I had heard that Jefferson Parish is under a current curfew until tomorrow. Best of luck getting back.

Well shite I just pulled up Google maps and see that portions of I-12 are closed between Slidell and Mandeville.

I see that as well. Meanwhile, the DOTD shows it all clear.

Now, I am confused on whether or not the roads are closed.

DOTD probably has to get out today and assess and then update. It’s barely the morning. I’d give them some time

My wife read some stuff on Facebook. People saying that we wouldn’t be allowed back in due to curfew. My response, was “frick their curfews” but in all honesty could we be turned back? I’ve never evacuated for a storm.

I'm assuming this is the Southshore?
