LSUs academic facilities are a joke compared to other premier state schools

Dude, I posted this earlier in the thread, but there is an incredible amount of new construction going on campus right now...

Campus construction will yield a variety of new facilities for housing and research, said Roger Husser, University Facility Services director of planning, design and construction. “Currently, there are 63 projects under construction,” Husser said.

I'm guessing this is well above average for most schools around the county.

Among the many projects are expansion of Patrick F. Taylor Hall, expansion of Tiger Stadium, renovation of the French House, renovating the University Press building and converting it to Greek-ready housing, and the first two phases of the UREC expansion and redesign, and the Annie Boyd Hall renovation.

New construction includes the just-completed Animal and Food Science Laboratory Building, the two new residence halls...Cypress Hall and Magnolia Hall...A new tennis facility, a gymnastics facility , and the just-completed the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.

Big times at LSU!

Most schools in the country are not playing catch up after neglecting academic infrastructure for 40+ years.

I get what you're saying, but I'm just glad it's happening now. With all that's going on in the state, the city, and on campus, it's an exciting time in our history!

I never bragged about the campus to my friends who went to VT, UVA or even JMU and NC St.

Well no shite LSU's academic buildings don't compare to universities in NC and VA. Those states realize how important education is while Louisiana is more concerned with bringing in low-education jobs than funding higher education.

With respect, that is changing. The new EJ Ourso business complex was rated recently as one of the best in the country. When completed, the new Patrick Taylor Hall will be one of the best engineering buildings in the country.

LSU engineering is the fifth-fast growing engineering school in the country. And it's going to continue to grow.

The state will provide $14 million in funding over the next 10 years to expand higher education programs and increase the number of computer science graduates to ensure a steady pool of workers for IBM. Of that funding, at least 65 percent will go to LSU’s School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in order to expand the computer science division.

Richard Koubek, dean of the College of Engineering, said the plan is to triple the number of computer science graduates from 30 to 90 and to increase the size of computer science faculty from 13 to 25 in the next three to five years. This would put LSU among the top 15 universities in the country in terms of the number of computer science degrees awarded annually, Koubek said.

ITT: people who want the state to fund LSU, but who keep voting for clowns like Bobby Jindal.

If Bobby Jindal is a clown, what would you consider yourself?

If I remember correctly it was in the news that it moves a few inches closer to the bayou every year. It's literally less than 30 ft away from the water

Don't be so gullible and believe everything that you hear. That building would be falling apart if it moved a few inches every year.

No it's possible, it were constructed atop a raft, which in turn was constructed atop pilings. If the pilings were improperly driven, causing them to sink, the raft would move in that direction.

I don't know the facts of the construction, I'm just assuming this is the case in this instance. I would think external connections like plumbing and electrical would rupture if the building did indeed move as described, but possibly it hasn't moved enough?
