LSU Alums - Would you recommend going to LSU?

I'm not going to write a novel.

I have an BBA Accountancy from Boise State. I'm currently studying for the CPA exam in Indiana. I want to actually be a Tiger in more than just "my family's been in Louisiana for 200+ years." I need 30 more hours in most every state to get licensed, I'm kicking around the idea of applying for the Master of Accountancy program, or even just a random adjacent degree.

I'd be paying out of state tuition (unless I could bypass using my parents, not sure how it works). Is the pride worth it? My gut says yes, not even a question, but I read from some posters who are very upset with the university's internal politics.

Advice welcome. I expect very little good to come from this.

I dont know that you get the same level of collegiate pride with a graduate degree. I think a lot of my love for LSU comes from the years I spent there which is really different than what you would have as a grad student. I got my masters at a different school and feel no real attachment to that school.

My daughter and I both went to LSU. I got my Masters there; she went for undergrad.

Both of us, in our honest opinion, say no.

I wouldn't have any reservation recommending LSU as a school. The quality of life issues around living in BR would be my only qualm.

My daughter, at 13, has already announced her strong intention to attend LSU.

I'm cool with it.

I love LSU. Like Kim just said after the NC game, it's a world-class institution and everyone knows:

Remain a member of the pickup truck alumni. I went to LSU for undergrad and for law school. The post-undergrad experience is just not the same.

LSU has one of the best internal audit programs in the country if that’s something that interests you.

If you survive, (doubtful) you’ll come out as a non-binary, white hating, pronoun having, self-loathing, communist.

No. I am an alum and have told my children I don't want them going to school anywhere in Louisiana - especially anywhere in BR or NO.

I love watching LSU in athletics but the university is shite and trending downward. The BoS here is woefully inept, most of whom do not have LSU degrees (and one whom I'm pretty sure never even went to college...) Plus Baton Rouge is a horrible city.

Do not send your kids to LSU.

Are you planning to attend in person? 10 years ago, sure. Now? frick no and BR is 100% the issue.

For something online? Sure.

Graduated from LSU and loved it. Still love the college. But I am afraid the university and the surrounding area is going in the wrong direction.

Is it bad? No. But I feel like some other colleges and their towns are moving in the right direction.

I would be fine recommending the school, but I have to be honest and say that I think there may be better options, depending on what you need.

Yeah, you're likely right.

Thanks, everyone, for the responses.

No. It's too woke now and it's right by a nasty hood.

Sorry LSU. Love ya from back in the day though.

I’ve been going to LSU games since I was 5 years old. One of the biggest side walk fans there is. All my family went there.

That being said, Baton Rouge is an absolute dump. Decided to go to college out of state. Children will not be attending LSU either

No. It's why my kid is gong to LaTech. They don't play that fru fru white privilege BS like George Floyd University. They are 100% committed to education, not Neo-Marxism
