Why is having a gun in their vehicle something someone shouldn’t be doing?

I’ve thought about getting a medical exemption but here in Texas I heard they are changing it so the exemption makes it okay to put things like temporary shades on the windows, not tint the windows themselves. But based on this thread, I might have to dig deeper.

Window tint is just a reason to initiate a traffic stop.

And knowing this people still go limo tint and ride dirty.
Don't give them. Any reason the pull you over. Just follow the tint laws.

I got pulled over for illegal tint (15%) at 630am pulling a trailer with a stump grinder I was returning.
Guess he thought I was stealing it.

Can someone remind me again why we give a damn if someone wants dark tint?

LSP to launch safety campaign on illegal window tint, license plate covers

This is all so they can see if they can make enough revenue on tint and license plate covers to cover the deficit if their inspection sticker money is taken away.

I think LEOs claim is that they can’t see through windows during a traffic stop. I can promise you that me driving around with tint on my 65k vehicle isn’t making your job any more unsafe.

No one cares you drive around in a used Tahoe.

I’m amazed by the amount of cars I see without license plates

I have illegal tint. If I get pulled over I will tell the officer that I go to NOLA often and I require the privacy of both family and belongings. That probably won't get me out of the ticket but the cop will definitely see where I am coming from. The ticket will be well worth it compared to theft/carjacking.

I was pulled over for it a few times 20 to 25 years ago. It seems they had a campaign to curb it then, but slowly over the years let go after seeing soccer moms and families with it.

This is once again another law to address the lowest common denominator in society - Criminal mischief and threats to officer safety.

Or the piece of paper with "Tag applied for" written with a Sharpie.

Nevermind the crime, drugs and thugery. Let's give them a ticket for dark tint!

Investigating and prosecuting violent crimes is revenue negative; “investigating” and prosecuting traffic violations is revenue positive.

For the last several decades, the core purpose of law enforcement is to perpetuate their own existence, not to protect and serve.

How about they go after all the obvious fake temp tags and uninsured drivers?

Because they don't pay the fines. They go after the ones with money. Can't pull over an illegal or a thug, the court system won't do anything to them. It's pitiful.

As a police officer I will say that window tint exemptions for elected officials is about the dumbest shite I have ever read in a law. But again, this is Louisiana and a very, very corrupt state across the board.

As for writing for LA RS 32:361.1....naw! Not unless you are a total dick and treat me like shite for simply doing my job.

Another way for them to write more tickets for money and give them a reason to be able to pull you over and "find" something to write you a ticket/arrest.

guess if they can’t see what’s in or isn’t in a vehicle, they’re more hesitant to try. Most of the time they likely see the prize and smash and grab Hell, I could be sitting inside mine at night with a gun on my lap and they (criminal) wouldn't have a clue.

Tint doesn't deter theft of weapons from vehicles... these dudes wait for a certain type of truck to park in a parking lot or wherever and know more than likely a weapon in the vehicle... especially in Louisiana... it's the profile of the vehicle... same goes for laptops, iPads etc. in college kids cars...

I agree, but if it makes just one perp think twice, then I’m glad to have it.

I can’t imagine sitting in city traffic all day and not having dark windows. I don’t even really need sunglasses unless I’m going directly into the early or late day sun.

It's safe for police but regular folks don't know how to see through dark windows.
