What do you need? Tarps?

Yes, my parents lost a section of shingles and need to get it covered

You can use anything for now and don't have to wait on a supply house. If you can grab one from Walmart and rip some boards down to use as batten boards or something.
If no tarps anywhere, then you can use synthetic felt and roofing caps. Just be sure to layer them properly. I know that should go without saying but I saw some people put the felt in a way that water still ran underneath the runs.
Just get it covered and insurance will pay to have it properly covered.
FYI. If you only cover part of the roof then the insurance may fight you and only pay for partial replacement if they can. It's best to cover the whole roof even if it doesn't need it.
