This thread is for people living in Louisiana who are fed up with corrupt politicians, failing public schools, insurance rates, sweltering heat, heavy storms, an abundance of welfare recipients, homelessness, crawfish prices, whatever has you wishing you were somewhere else.

The number 1 reason typically mentioned to this question is “can’t move bc family member needs me here as an anchor”

If you came to the decision that you needed to put your extended family aside, and do what you know is best for yourself or just your immediate family, to move away from Louisiana, where is a realistic option to improve your quality of life?

We moved to Lexington, KY. Best kept secret in the country for places to live. Centrally located to so many great cities that we can drive to. Weather is phenomenal. We will spend the rest of our lives here.

But if I move it would be somewhere with a significantly better climate

ive thought about Idaho, Colorado, and Utah. Idaho is probably too cold. Utah seems like a better option than Colorado.

But I think im leaning more towards East Tennessee, West North Carolina, or North Georgia to retire to. Those are probably more moderate climates but still have four seasons.

That removes the realistic for me, but I would definitely love to do this.

Since you sound like a glass half empty kind of guy, I’m sure you’d have a pessimistic list of any place you’d live after awhile. I choose to take the opposite road. There is plenty of good things here. Challenge yourself to find them and appreciate them.

Somewhere in Colorado probably. Don't like the politics, but the scenery and outdoor activities would draw me in.
