Our student body president started a flood relief effort that runs from now until Thanksgiving for flood victims in order to provide them with Thanksgiving meals and other items.

Please share with anyone else if they would like to donate.

Legit question here: What percent of people do you think are still not back in their homes? Just wondering.

I'd say at least 75%

Probably 90% of those that flooded.

I would guess a good bit. Aren't people still waiting to hear from FEMA if they will have to elevate or not in some areas?

In my parents small neighborhood in Denham, I would say 95% are still out. My guess since there were a lot of older people in that area that 50% will never return.

Easily. Contractors are not showing up, supplies are still slow coming in, money has not been released from insurance companies.
Spoke to a friend earlier, the wrong windows & siding was ordered, they now have to wait another 6 weeks for the right stuff to come in & be installed before anything else can be done.

We live in Denham Springs. I know one person who is moving back into her home today. Other than that we are all in campers in our driveways or living elsewhere. In our situation we are still waiting on the insurance money and any elevation requirements.

Denham is the new NOLA 9th ward.

It won't be that bad, but the area I'm very familiar with is going to def. change someone demographically.

The area bordered by Range, Florida, and Rushing Rd. were smaller older houses. Lot's of old people lived in these areas and a ton of people aren't coming back. There will be a ton of rentals on the market in this area.
I believe the area up closer to where Florida and Range meet was already headed in that direction before the flood.

The drive raised $50,000 which will be presented to several LSU students and staff during the game tomorrow

I also know my organization is bringing 30 volunteers to work towards relief in Baton Rouge for the entire month of December working 7-12s. Hopefully that will get some good work done.
