Only +5203 since last Thursday’s update.

“Reminder, COVID doesn’t take holidays off, and you should continue to avoid your loved ones at all costs. To show how serious we are, we plan on addressing this situation immediately after we all spend the holidays with our loved ones” - JBE

Either vaccinate 24/7 till we’re out of doses, because we’re in an “emergency” situation, or handle vaccinations on straight days because we’re not in an emergency (opening everything up in the process, due to no longer being in an emergency).

The scary thing is that Louisiana for once in its history actually had their shite together when it came to planning for the vaccine distribution. If we are moving this slow imagine how slow other states who did not do much to prepare are doing.

The week between Christmas and New Year is slow.

A politician violates his own lockdown.

The MSM took bribes from China.

Apple products are made by slaves.

What breaking news will be posted next? Cardi B has the clap?

That would be my hope, but seems to be a national issue. Reference here is the article in Nola.com talking about heading out to the nursing homes “first thing Monday morning (12/28)” for the Moderna vaccine.

Really not a reason to wait until Monday to administer doses that arrived in state last week if these are the folks that pose a genuine risk of losing their life. Many there don’t have much time left anyway, if this is how we get them to be able to spend time with loved ones even a week sooner - this needs to happen.

Unless they are going to people's homes and forcibly vaccinating them, the ability to quickly vaccinate is going to be limited by the speed of people who show up to get vaccinated.

I'm guessing some people decided Christmas and the day after weren't the best times to go?

Here in Ms we have scheduled Covid clinics at LTCF/nursing homes but those aren’t even starting until next week or so.

It’s a slow rollout and they’re hiring pharmacists like crazy to work the clinics, offering a $5,000 signing bonus to work for a year and and $80 an hour to work the clinics

Is vaccination open to the general public in Louisiana? I thought it was only allowed for healthcare professionals currently.

I'm too busy feigning outrage by the New York Times article on the Palm Oil in girl scout cookies. Did you know we have slave labor picking up Palm Oil in Indonesia??

The Louisiana Department of Health is coordinating the COVID-19 vaccine distribution effort in Louisiana. As more vaccines become available from the CDC, more individuals and groups will be offered a vaccination.

Long-Term Care Facilities will be some of the first sites to receive early COVID-19 vaccinations. Through a federal program, select chain pharmacies will offer vaccinations to staff and residents at facilities beginning in late december and early January.

Walgreens has been contracted to give the shots at my Grandpas nursing home
They are supposed to start soon but I don’t think an actual date has been given

How many people do you think are getting vaccinated on Christmas Day?

Vaccinations aren’t open to the general public, but the most logical step, make sure our nursing home residents can have it (cutting fatality rate in half) appears to not be taking place at maximum possible speed.

Through my time in the military and now working at plants, I’m not generally sympathetic to the idea that these things “can’t” get done during the holiday and weekends, if you hold them of enough value, you do it. If access to vaccination is the one thing holding us back from people restoring their livelihoods (even allowing people not to take it), then go full speed ahead moving every possible obstacle out of the way.

If this is the best we can do, we’re guilty of too much “inside the box thinking”. Give the people doing vaccinations a random 4-day weekend in June next year in place of working through Christmas weekend this year - people will understand, just like my wife understood why I was gone last year for Christmas on something far less important for national health and stability.

My 70 year old parents would have gladly got a vaccine shot on Christmas Day. Frick it, even if you use only Jewish/Muslim doctors and nurses and spend that day only vaccinating elder Jewish/Muslim populations you’re accomplishing something. Better than claiming vaccine supply is an issue while having a freezer full of it.

Those in healthcare really lost my respect.
They act as if this is some complex shite.
I've worked holidays, weekends etc.
I've learned new things.
I've figured out how to get shite done.
These idiots have unlimited resources.
To line old ppl up and stick a needle in their arm.
It's not complicated.

I think it's all on the front page right now.

It is in today’s litigious society. If one thing goes wrong people are going to sue the shite out of everyone. You think CVS wants to be involved in that?

That slows things down alot.
