If it's an indoor cat there is a good chance it is hiding somewhere nearby the house. They get scared as shite when they are out for long in an unfamiliar area. Same thing happened with my parents one time. Found it several hours later hiding in a storage area in the back he managed to crawl into.

That's what I want to believe.
We posted flyers in the neighborhood and took a golf cart around looking for it.
Also put food and water on the porch and at a nearby location.

Even a cat that's used to going outside isn't going to wander too far from its food source.
If its friendly though somebody might have let it into their house.
I've had cats like that. Ones that went in and out as they pleased sometimes they find a neighbor's house that they like better than yours and stay there but every now and then they still come around.

We live in the back of the neighborhood, a good distance away from the exit to the neighborhood. I'm hoping someone took it in and they'll see the signs tomm on their way out.
Fwiw, it's an indoor cat that was always very reluctant to go outdoors.

one of our cats got out about a year ago. she'd never been outside, and we saw nothing of her for 2 days and 2 nights. When I came home from work off the night shift one morning she was sitting by the door and couldn't wait to get inside. She's never gone near the door since. I hope the same happens with yours.

Yeah I've seen that too with indoor cats that have gotten out. They are afraid so they hide but once their hunger becomes greater than their fear they come back.

Fingers crossed brother

How do you lose an indoor cat?
Be careful when you open the fricking door.

It's a gray cat. Do you really need a picture?
Also, good luck on finding your cat.

He could be just fishing and trying to steal someone else's grey cat.

Not me. Not until the cat can tell us what happened over those 5-6 days. Would you just rest easy when your child, gone for 6 days, just showed back up on your door step?
I have questions. And they aren't easy or comfortable questions.
